Lizzy McAlphine Releases New Album ‘Older’

Lizzy McAlphine is an emerging star. She’s opened for FINNEAS, embarked on her own headline tour and collaborated with Noah Kahan; all this while making NPR Music‘s Top 5 Tiny Desks of 2022 list!

Five seconds flat is her sophomore album that offers an extended narrative about heartbreak through fourteen songs and is accompanied by a short film.

‘Older’

McAlphine is one of those rare artists whose success has come via the internet, giving her creative leeway to create music she is truly passionate about. “The Elevator”, her first track on this album, invokes sentimental feelings with its simple piano ballad composition that immediately strikes a chord within listeners.

Older is an evolution of her previous album, Five Seconds Flat. Her songs on Older explore relationships that show signs of change compared to her earlier work, with simplistic instrumentals and emotive lyrics similar to Phoebe Bridgers or Gracie Abrams’ styles. Her final track on Older, “Vortex,” begins as a soft piano ballad but becomes one of its most powerful moments on Older; its haunting beauty truly showcases her growth as an artist.

‘The Older Tour’

After an impressive run of shows – including her sold-out Tiny Desk performance – 23-year-old singer-songwriter will embark on her ‘Older Tour’ this spring and summer, visiting various parts of Europe and North America while sharing her music with fans.

McAlphine says her new piano-focused record is more genuine and allows listeners to connect more directly with her story.

From Dodie’s signature vocal layers and Jacob Collier’s distinctive orchestrations, to McAlphine’s distinctive and more mature and focused voice – which feels more grounded this time – there are myriad influences evident on this album. However, one thing is certain – its impact will reach far and wide!

‘Erase Me’

Lizzy McAlphine recently released and toured her single, Older. Now, she has released another track called “Erase Me.” Featuring Grammy-Award winning musician Jacob Collier’s signature vocal pyramids and dense vocal harmonies in this track.
