Zeds Dead Live at Ritchie Coliseum

Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan, better known to their fans as Zeds Dead, are a genre-defying duo renowned for blending aggressive dubstep with drum’n’bass, hip hop and even metal music genres. Additionally, these tastemakers operate one of dance music‘s leading labels: Deadbeats Records.

As big-room styles evolved during the second half of 2010, Zeds Dead continued to push boundaries through innovative tracks such as 2021’s serrated “POWA.” Their debut album Northern Lights followed suit.

About the Artists

Zeds Dead are true pioneers of the bass music movement. Their performances captivate any global setting with powerful bass sounds that showcase authentic electronic production every week.

DC and Hooks initially joined forces in 2004 as Mass Productions, producing one hip hop-influenced independent album entitled Fresh Beetz in 2007. They then formed Zeds Dead in 2009 and created Bassmentality club night in a small Toronto bar – it quickly become a hub for bass music scene with performances by prominent acts like Skrillex, Borgore, Nero and Camo & Krooked among many more.

Deadbeats was established as their own record label and platform to promote bass culture in 2016. Since then, it has expanded into an all-encompassing lifestyle and events brand. Northern Lights marked the peak of their artistic journey and features collaborative efforts with artists like Diplo, Twin Shadow, Pusha T and Rivers Cuomo from Weezer.

Live Performances

On the night before Thanksgiving, college students often gather to get drunk and dance to bass music that only they understand. At Ritchie Coliseum at the beginning of this particular evening, there was an abundance of double-knotted shoes and LED rave lights visible within its crowd.

DC and Hooks were masterful live performers, showing great attention to sonic detail while building their sets to an exhilarating climax without overdoing it. To round off an incredible weekend in Toronto they held an aftershow at another venue that left each fan smiling ear-to-ear!

Deadbeats artists excel at curating host-based events, like their two-night New Year’s Eve show in Denver with an all-star lineup of Deadbeats artists. Proud of their hometown’s dedication to bass music, they brought Denver‘s tight-knit community together for a weekend full of wubs and dubstep – which proved an unprecedented success! This show marked a first in its kind – it truly set an important precedent.

Zeds Dead have long pushed the limits of electronic music with their innovative style and groundbreaking label Deadbeats Records. Over time, their label has become one of the premier independent dance labels while simultaneously becoming a lifestyle brand and live events powerhouse.

Northern Lights was an incredible breakthrough production for the duo in 2016, reaching #1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums and Heatseekers Albums charts. It featured guest artists like Diplo, Pusha T, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo and more!

This year, they made headlines when they debuted a special remix of “Journey of a Lifetime e” featuring Canadian hip hop superstar Drake as an unexpected release – it quickly went viral with over 3600,000,000 views on Youtube!
