Zeds Dead first gained fame through Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film Pulp Fiction when they debuted as a bass music duo in 2009. Canada-based Dylan “DC” Mamid and Zachary “Hooks” Rapp-Rovan quickly established themselves as one of the foremost bass music acts worldwide, curating their own event series called Bassmentality to showcase forward thinking sounds emerging from both dubstep and bass undergrounds around the globe.
Zeds Dead have created an expansive and genre-spanning discography. Their innovative Deadbeats Records imprint has also helped launch many breakthrough artists like DNMO, PEEKABOO, 1788-L, ZEKE BEATS and Subtronics – to name just a few!
Zeds Dead may be best known for their hard hitting drum and bass music, yet recently surprised fans by branching into house music with “One Three Nine,” released on Night Bass creator AC Slater’s label. This new direction shows their limitless sound capabilities.
Zeds Dead tours deliver an immersive concert-going experience for their fans, blending pulsating beats with stunning visuals to produce something truly spectacular and unforgettable. From captivating stage setups to mesmerizing light shows, the duo spare no expense in creating an experience like no other for concertgoers.
The pair’s performances go beyond dance music to foster community bonds between themselves and their fans, regularly hosting fan meetups, forums, and other interactive experiences that connect on a deeper level with each follower.
Touring small venues, this duo’s performances provide fans with an unforgettable experience. Additionally, by including cities that may not have as much talent, they are helping emerging producers gain recognition within a competitive industry – especially musicians from smaller communities who do not receive equal opportunities in larger markets. Artist pre-sale will start Thursday, November 9 at 10am local time before general on sale Friday, November 10. Register here.
Zeds Dead have made waves in the bass community with their fluid style that unifies genres ranging from hard-hitting dubstep and drum & bass to ethereal electronica and raw hip hop. Beginning their production as Mass Production back in 2004, Fresh Beetz, their hip-hop inspired album released under this moniker was one of several groundbreaking works released before they launched Zeds Dead as an individual project.
In 2016, they unveiled their debut full-length artist album Northern Lights – an artistic milestone featuring collaborations with top pop and dance artists such as Diplo, Twin Shadow, Pusha T, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo from NGHTMRE Jadakiss among many others – which charted in both iTunes and Beatport albums charts as well as selling out numerous sold out shows. This project became an immense success charting in both charts’ top ten.
As the music world transforms and grows, Zeds Dead continue to adapt with Deadbeats imprint – an audio home for artists whose work embody Zeds Dead’s trademark blend of emotion and innovation. We spoke with Harrison Bennett – label manager of Deadbeats Radio and Altered States mixtape series – to lay the groundwork of this Toronto-based imprint.
No matter if you’ve known of Zeds Dead since their remix of “Eyes on Fire,” or are just discovering them for the first time through one of their numerous music productions or international touring schedules – Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan remain an unstoppable force within electronic music industry.
Although Zeds Dead defy categorization, true fans know that dubstep is at the core of their music. From their initial EP Rudeboy through Northern Lights – both featuring deep dubstep sounds – dubstep is present and prominent throughout their discography.
