Zeds Dead and DC and Hooks

Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan, known collectively as Zeds Dead, quickly rose to the top of bass music circles in Toronto during the mid to late aughts. Crafting their sound just as EDM was evolving, their genre-defying productions and collaborations with artists like Jadakiss, Diplo, Rivers Cuomo from Weezer, NGHTMRE as well as Jadakiss helped build anticipation around their debut album Northern Lights.

Discography

DC and Hooks, Toronto-based production duo Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan, found fame through an iconic line from Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction movie. Debuting in 2009 with All-Seeing I sampled “Journey of a Lifetime”, DC and Hooks later produced Northern Lights as their debut full-length production; showing their ability to merge hip-hop attitude with house music and dubstep’s more physical side.

Subsequent releases by this duo have scaled the charts, amassed millions of streams and made them household names on dance floors around the world. Their extensive collaborations include artists like Diplo, Pusha T and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo among many others.

Altered States Records was also created as a second label by this duo to release downtempo and experimental electronic music, without restricting itself or their productions to one specific style or genre. Tours

Zeds Dead have garnered great acclaim since becoming bass music royalty, but their desire to explore cultural trends and styles led them down the path towards creating Altered States sub-label. Altered States shares Deadbeats’ mission by featuring exceptional talent with inspirational stories while making accessible music available worldwide – expanding the global electronic community worldwide.

This past year has seen the duo expand their influence and garner new acclaim through performances and new releases. Their nationwide Deadbeats label tour–one of the most unique electronic roadshows ever held–played to sold-out audiences at venues like Masonic Temple Detroit, WaMu Theatre Seattle and Shrine in LA.

Tour stop: Denver–known as America’s unofficial bass capital–where Paper Diamond and DJ Green Lantern (formerly with Eminem’s Shady Records) joined by up-and-coming New York producer Branchez for two nights of performances at Red Rocks amphitheatre. A massive after party wrapped up the tour.

Livesets

DC and Hooks have quickly established themselves as one of the premier EDM groups. Their unique productions often combine genres in unexpected ways; their remix of Blue Foundation’s “Eyes on Fire” became a smash hit that earned them much renown throughout EDM circles.

Livesets by this pair are always jam-packed with hits and draw in crowds of all kinds to a show, making them must-see acts. This year they were the main headliner at our 4th of July Jamboree and also managed to draw an overflow crowd for their annual Dead Rocks Hangover show at Mission Ballroom.

Zeds Dead represents Denver‘s bass community beautifully, showing their support of artists like GRiZ, Hamdi and Peekaboo as they continue their career development.
