Warren Haynes is well known among fans from his work with Allman Brothers Band, Govet Mule and The Dead; as well as touring with Phil Lesh and Friends.
Ashes & Dust, his first album since the Allman Brothers Band’s departure, represents something of a departure for him; featuring acoustic arrangements of songs that had been haunting him since their final recording session.

Haynes has recruited longtime associate John Medeski (keyboards) and Terence Higgins – known for playing with both Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Ani DiFranco – as members of his Warren Haynes Band for this latest soulful incarnation. Bassist Kevin Scott and Saxophonist Ron Holloway will also participate.
This all-star lineup will tour to promote Million Voices Whisper, Haynes’ fourth solo studio collection since 2011 and his first released since then. Haynes also organizes The Christmas Jam charity event held annually in Asheville.
Warren Haynes’ sublime musicianship as part of three legendary live rock bands — Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead and Gov’t Mule — comes alive through the Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience tour from July-September this year. Joined by Chicago and Colorado orchestras as hosts on this journey.
This deluxe CD features four bonus tracks featuring Derek Trucks of Allman Brothers Band (ABB), as he plays guitar on “Real Real Love,” written by Haynes with Gregg Allman but finished using Allman’s style and methods; Lukas Nelson and Jamey Johnson join forces on a version of CSNY classic “Day of Reckoning”, while Railroad Earth bassist Kevin Scott and former WHB drummer Terence Higgins complete the lineup.
Haynes has spent more than 25 years entertaining audiences and winning awards with his rock n’ roll music, filling arenas across North America while selling millions of albums. But his incredible virtuosity is just part of the story.
Haynes is also an esteemed songwriter, having written songs for three of the most iconic live groups ever: Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule and the Dead. In his upcoming release Million Voices Whisper he brings this songwriting talent into focus.
Million Voices Whisper is a record containing some tunes he had been carrying around with him, waiting to be recorded, for several years. For its creation he enlisted some of the top musicians from both jazz and acoustic music scenes including keyboardist John Medeski from Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott; it will be released November 1st.
Haynes is known for combining gospel, classic rock, country and reggae styles into his unique sound when performing solo, with Gov’t Mule or orchestral symphonic arrangements. Regardless of his musical endeavors – from solo performance through collaborations or arrangements for orchestral symphonic experiences – always searching for truth within each tune he creates. He truly personifies a lifetime of music-making experience.
Million Voices Whisper is his latest album that explores themes of struggle and redemption – themes which resonate with audiences everywhere. Terence Higgins on drums, John Medeski on keyboards, and bassist Saundra Williams add their signature melodies for a soulful blues-rock experience on this record.
Rich Daniels conducted the show at Red Rocks and led a full symphony orchestra supporting Haynes’ band. Together they deliver an impressive performance which brings out his multifaceted skillset.
Haynes continues to inspire his fellow musicians as well as fans with his creative musicmaking. As an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, he has recorded and performed with artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton, Coheed and Cambria and Carlos Santana – among many others.
