String Cheese Incident forged its massive following through hard work and constant touring; cultivating close ties with their fans as they established SCI Fidelity Records to handle releases.
As SCI celebrates 30 years, their creative energies continue to flow freely into a variety of projects – Lend Me A Hand is proof positive of that fact!
String Cheese Incident are well known for creating an exhilarating musical journey through multiple styles and influences, with keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth at the core of this musical magic, known for both his stylistic diversity and technical mastery.
Hollingsworth always finds engaging ways to keep his music thriving when not touring with SCI. A versatile collaborator, he performs with various side projects and regularly appears at festival circuit events.
This week Kyle Hollingsworth Band will hit the road and perform two shows with Dan Schwindt on guitar, Dave Watts on drums and Garrett Sayers on bass – joined by Michael Kang and Jason Hann from String Cheese Incident as well as Motet saxophonists Matt Pitts and Gabriel Marvine of Motet Saxophone Quartet and singer Bonnie Paine for added funky rock sounds that are sure to wow audiences! With such an abundance of talent behind it all, their performances promise an explosive blend of funk rock that is certain to impress!
The Motet have long been a go-to in Colorado’s jam scene. Their latest release, All Day is an eclectic instrumental journey crafted of infectious grooves and meticulous arrangements. Sarah Clarke joined The Motet this past January as vocal powerhouse, adding another dynamic aspect to their group.
This group consists of drummer Dave Watts, Joey Porter on keys and saxophone, Garrett Sayers on bass guitar, Drew Sayers on saxophone, Ryan Jalbert on guitar as well as various guest performers such as horn players and vocalists for shows.
String Cheese Incident members have an abundance of creative energy flowing through them, which makes it no surprise they often embark on side projects and collaborate on collaborations outside their main band. As part of their desire to push boundaries and experiment, this year they’re inviting some special guests from other bands into The Motet for this year’s festival: Jennifer Hartswick from Trey Anastasio Band; Shira Elias from Shira Elias from Jason Hann – as well as Jason Hann – will join The Motet on stage Saturday and Sunday to add even more musical talent into The Motet performance.
SuperCollider is an open source software environment and dynamic programming language geared toward audio synthesis, signal processing and algorithmic composition. Used by musicians, composers, sound artists and programmers alike; its powerful object oriented language called Sclang offers users plenty of customization capabilities.
SuperCollider stands out from other languages by permitting code execution on-the-fly without stopping audio playback, enabling live coding performances where performers improvise their code in real time to produce real time sound and visuals.
SuperCollider runs on Bela and allows users to access all analog and digital inputs and outputs of Bela in real-time, opening up possibilities of running SuperCollider together with other tools and hardware like video cameras or microphones.
String Cheese Incident’s members may all have diverse musical preferences, yet all share one thing in common – their ability to come together into an impressive funk-infused supergroup when needed. Kyle Hollingsworth Band is no different – drawing upon talents from The Motet, SuperCollider and Kyle’s roots within The Cheesy collective to produce breathtaking performances since their formation.
SCI quickly earned their standing as leaders of the jam band scene by emphasizing live improvisation and cultivating an environment conducive to community – one where attending SCI shows was not simply an entertainment event but part of life for Deadheads, well-to-do college kids, and suntanned ski bums alike.
This sextet will return to the northeast after three years away to perform at many of the top music venues along the East Coast. Below is their schedule.
