The Piano Guys are four self-described goofy dads from Utah who achieved international renown through their engaging classical-contemporary mashups on YouTube. The group includes musicians Jon Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson as well as producers/videographer Paul Anderson and music producer Al van der Beek.
Paul Anderson embodied boundless ambition. He would often tell the tale of a racecar driver who won in an old, broken-down vehicle to illustrate that people, not vehicles, make victories possible. That same drive was what propelled Paul into great success as an amateur weightlifter; breaking many world records and drawing crowds to his lifting exhibitions were among his hallmark accomplishments.
He then gained recognition on BBC show Peaky Blinders as Arthur Shelby, an anti-WWI Birmingham gangster. Since 2013, he has been featured as part of this iconic cast and will likely make an appearance in Brimstone spin-off film as well.
Boogie Nights was the turning point in Anderson’s career; with its stellar cast including Hall, Reilly and Philip Seymour Hoffman as stars. It showcased many of Anderson’s trademarks – his use of source lighting and long takes being particularly impressive; plus it proved to be a successful box-office effort and helped take it further than ever.
