Vide Noir, their latest album, boasts stunning artwork. Additionally, there is a vast library of videos and immersive experiences that expand upon the themes explored within its songs.
Lord Huron stands out in an age when albums tend to read more like personal diaries than carefully constructed narratives, by weaving intricate fictional worlds through country, folk rock, rock and roll and pop melodies to tell their characters’ tales. Hailing from Michigan originally, they combine these genres for maximum storytelling impact.
Ben Schneider established his band from his solo project into an orchestral ensemble featuring Mark Barry (percussion), Tom Renaud (guitar), and Miguel Briseno (bass). Strange Trails, their latest release, features an engaging cast of characters and story that builds on that found on their debut album. Ben Schneider is an accomplished musician. Born and raised in Michigan, he studied visual art in France before moving to New York. “Following a girl” to Los Angeles led to him co-founding this band along with childhood friends Mark Barry (drums), Tom Renaud (guitar), and Miguel Briseno (bass). They are known for creating eclectic folk-rock with cinematic flourishes reminiscent of images found across icy plateaus, rugged coastlines, and desert landscapes.
Lord Huron’s music conjures images of vast landscapes when listening to them; its sound brings desert sunsets, snow-capped mountains and two-lane roads criss-crossing the Midwest into focus. Their style makes for ideal outdoor exploration or romance, and is further enhanced by an ethereal quality brought about by haunting reverb in their vocals that gives their vocals an otherworldly quality.
The band‘s sound is both nostalgic and operatic, blending elements of folk, rock, and country into its compositions. Each song in their repertoire masterfully portrays complex characters and settings with intricate lyrics that leave listeners wanting more. Fans often refer to themselves as Travelers or World Enders when discussing this band.
Lord Huron have also released live recordings of their performances that can be found online and streamed, part of a series called Alive From Whispering Pines.
