Meghan Trainor first made waves with her 2014 body-positive hit “All About That Bass.” Since then, Meghan Trainor has become known for her unique blend of pop, R&B and doo-wop music.
She began honing her songwriting talents by attending regional songwriting conventions as a teen, eventually signing with Nashville-based Big Yellow Dog Music at 18 and writing songs for Rascal Flatts and Disney star Sabrina Carpenter among other artists.
Trainor began writing songs at age 11, using GarageBand on her MacBook to record them. Encouraged by her father to explore various genres of music, Trainor became adept in writing her first original tune at age 11.
She released her self-titled debut album in 2009 and received significant airplay on local radio stations. Later, she went on tour with I’ll Sing With You and Only 17 and signed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music – writing songs for other artists along the way.

At 18 Trainor signed a publishing deal with Nashville’s Big Yellow Dog Music, penning songs for artists including Rascal Flatts and Sabrina Carpenter. She attended regional songwriting conventions as she further pursued her goal. It was here where the foundation for Trainor’s dreams took form.
Her music fuses elements of pop, R&B, doo wop and blue-eyed soul; her lyrics explore 21st-century womanhood with themes related to body image and personal empowerment.

Trainor’s 2015 EP Title features a blend of R&B, pop, doo-wop and blue-eyed soul influences penned and produced by Nashville songwriter Kevin Kadish – she featured all tracks from this EP on both concert tours “That Bass Tour” and MTrain Tour in 2015.
Trainor’s album showcases her girl-next-door persona, post-millennial attitude and musical talent; however, its lyrics are both repetitive and juvenile.
Meghan Trainor made history when she released her full-length studio debut album Title in 2015. With success of “All About That Bass” at number one on Billboard charts, Trainor officially made the transition into major label studio albums with Title.
It features doo-wop, pop, blue-eyed soul and R&B music and its lyrics reflect Trainor’s feelings of insecurity about her own body image.
Trainor’s album proved a smash hit, earning her her first number one hit and earning certifications both domestically and abroad.
After the success of All About That Bass, Meghan Trainor released her sophomore single “Lips Are Movin.” This doo-wop track quickly reached top 10 status across three territories – United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
According to Kevin Kadish, Trainor’s co-writer and collaborator on this song, it was written as an expression of her frustrations with her record label but it could also be about someone.
Trainor’s third single, “Dear Future Husband,” topped the US charts and is an upbeat tune about courtship and marriage.
