On Wednesday at the Music Farm, American indie folk band Lord Huron will enthrall audiences with its haunting melodies and intricate noir-pop textures. Their distinct vocals and ethereal instrumentation create a sense of discovery for audiences – something perfectly suited for intimate venues like Music Farm.
Lord Huron stands out from other indie bands by creating more than songs and live shows; rather, their entire world of fiction includes elaborate backstories and settings meticulously constructed through albums and music videos. Lord Huron fans refer to themselves as Travelers or World Enders due to elements from their extensive lore that appear throughout each album and music video release.
Ben Schneider, the leader of Lord Huron, has an innovative way of storytelling through music. Five years ago he started Lord Huron as a solo visual and musical project before involving other musicians to expand on his vision. Additionally he has directed all music videos released for Lord Huron albums including Lonesome Dreams (2012) and Strange Trails (2017) as well as all their music videos released online.
Lord Huron explored themes of nostalgia, adventure, and grit on their Western-themed album Strange Trails. Additionally, they have traveled the country and performed at music festivals such as Coachella, South by Southwest, Bonnaroo as well as appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live as well as appearing in a Zales commercial.
Vide Noir marks Vide Noir’s latest expansion on these themes to take us on an intergalactic voyage. Hailing from California, this group took a more rocking approach on this album while maintaining their signature ethereal sound; songwriting remains as powerful and meaningful as before while their musicality now incorporates more adventurous influences from across genres and beyond.
The band continues to take listeners along their journey with a brand-new music video for their title track, inspiring viewers with feelings of wonder and curiosity as it takes viewers through various landscapes and times. It serves as a poignant reminder of loss and love to cherish what we have around us and those in it.
