Glock is an engaging rapper renowned for his signature flow that distinguishes him from many of his counterparts in a genre where too many rappers seem content with just spittin’ verses. His music is hard-hitting and filled with braggadocio that exudes confidence while his bragging raps also showcase clever wordplay inspired by Drake and Migos but with his own distinct twist.
Paper Route Empire signee Glock first made waves with his 2017 mixtape Glock Season, an early precursor to his 2019 album Dumb and Dumber. Though there will not be another installment of Glockoma series, Glock’s sophomore effort expands his universe with infectious tracks like “Since 6ix,” “Gang Shit No Lame Shit,” and the title track.
Glock was raised without much guidance or oversight, yet credits his grandmother as one of his main influences. She played blues and hip-hop music in their South Memphis home, providing Glock the chance to experience various cultures first-hand. Through adversity and a hardened mindset he found solace in music; something which has since proven fruitful for him.
Glock’s project features production from BandPlay, Tay Keith, Honorable C.N.O.T.E, TM88 and Buddah Bless among others. While BandPlay produced most of the tracks featured herein, Glock allowed himself the freedom to add his signature sound and shape each beat with his personal flair – be it through his selection of beats such as those found on “Randy Orton” and the Gothic trap bounce of “Money Over Hoes.” He is adept at choosing beats that complement his sound perfectly!
Glock stands out by creating his project without featuring anyone on it; such an uncommon move helps him stand out and standout.
On Yellow Tape, Memphis native Jordan displays his impressive versatility and impressive rapping skills on each song. “Since 6ix” showcases Jordan’s ability to utilize Drake and Lil Wayne-esque beats for his verses while his humorous ad-libs on “Gang Shit No Lame Shit” elevate his raps further.
Key Glock stands out among his peers with his ability to create songs for all types of listeners that stand out. His raps have been described as infectious, upbeat and energetic – traits his fans love! If Key can continue producing content that resonates with fans like this, he’s bound to become a household name soon enough.
