British indie pop band Little Boots, best known for the chart-topping single ‘Heat Waves,’ will visit Gorge Amphiteatre this autumn as part of its Tour of Earth. Frontman Dave Bayley says their latest album explores both joy and existential crises of sudden fame.
Hospitals may not seem like fertile ground for musical innovation, but Glass Animals was an exception – after drummer Joe Seaward’s brush with death led them into hospital care, this experience resulted in their breakthrough album and Grammy nomination – becoming one of the greatest musical acts ever!
Philosophy, priests, poets and scientists have grappled with what it means to be human for millennia. No definitive answers exist that fully unpack its contradictions and mysteries that comprise life on Earth; nonetheless some have come closer than others in providing answers.
Glass Animals made waves with their 2015 debut ZABA, becoming indie darlings; but their experimental spirit really came into its own on 2016’s How to Be a Human Being with its collection of strange anthems and synth-infused slow jams which earned them their first Mercury Prize nomination.
Dreamland, their sophomore record released in 2020, further refined the art-rock/club-pop dialectic at the heart of their sound. A tour aptly entitled Tour of Earth brought them back to Merriweather Post Pavilion where they performed an exhilarating set featuring new material with props, graphics and monochrome neon lighting to bring it all alive for audiences.
Glass Animals of Oxford-based indie rock has experienced a meteoric rise since 2014’s Zaba. On 2016’s How to Be a Human Being, their expansive openness flourished fully; featuring freaky funky anthems and synth-infused slow jams which earned them indie rock darling status and ultimately, a Mercury Prize nomination.
Dreamland followed in 2020 as a more intimate album that further united their art-rock/club-pop sound, leading to their breakout hit “Heat Waves.” Dreamland made them household names across the globe.
Now, four years later, they’re back with an all-out assault of seductive vaporwave music at Merriweather Post Pavilion as part of the global Tour of Earth. Joined on certain dates by Kevin Abstract, Eyedress and Blondshell (KEV Abstract/Eyedress/Blondshell), they promise an experience you won’t want to miss! Don’t miss this unforgettable show.
Glass Animals’ meteoric rise from Oxford indie darlings to global superstars is nothing short of extraordinary. Their meteoric success was catalysed by 2020’s Dreamland album which produced “Heat Waves,” reaching top five status both nationally and locally in both countries and revolutionizing how bands could blend sexy, tropical influences into contemporary sounds seamlessly.
Contrasting with Zaba’s abstract lyrics which woven together an almost stream-of-consciousness narrative, frontman Dave Bayley chose instead to focus more directly on what inspired each track on I Love You So F***ing Much and its resultant LP which explores all forms of love–both good and bad–with which his bandmate Adam DeSisto once had an encounter.

Oxford-based quartet The Futureheads have made waves with their blend of synth pop and indie rock, highlighted by chart-topping hits like Heat Waves. Now embarking on a 41-date global trek known as “Tour of Earth,” these highly respected performers have garnered worldwide acclaim.
Glass Animals hit the stage to an electric atmosphere and immediately started performing Life Itself from their debut album to an enthralled crowd. Once that opening drumbeat hit, everyone went wild!
Once onstage, the band performed various songs from both their debut and follow-up albums, including Tokyo Drifting with its trap beats sparking an energetic yet brief mosh pit; lead singer Dave Bayley then pulled his hair back with dramatic intensity for Pork Soda (one of their Top 5 hit Singles) before tossing pineapples into the crowd during their frenetic encore song “Hot Sugar”. Their energetic performance perfectly complimented their colorful stage set design.
