Generation Z Band Wallows Reveals a Mastery of Self-Introspection

Wallows made their debut with Pleaser in 2017, which brought them immediate notice from Gen Z. Since then, this California trio comprised of Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston have released both an extended play and full-length album.

Tell Me That It’s Over is out now on Atlantic Records, offering up charming indie rock that makes an excellent soundtrack for coming-of-age movies.

Tell Me That It’s Over

Wallows’ sophomore effort showcases a depth of self-introspection that few bands can match. Their ability to combine various genre influences and experimentation without losing their own identity was impressive, especially considering they had just started this path with their debut record.

Wallows are an indie pop trio consisting of Dylan Minnette and Braeden Lemasters that combine bedroom pop with Top 40 catchiness to reach a much broader audience than their Gen Z indie peers. Wallows represent an outsider narrative indicative of an indie pop renaissance; yet their challenges come in unexpected forms: top-40 demands and pandemic-induced income loss which have hindered them more than streaming could ever do.

Wallows remains unfazed by these obstacles and her talent for writing dynamic songs remains undiminished on Tell Me That It’s Over.

Wallows have quickly made a name for themselves with their debut album, Nothing Happens, released earlier in 2019. Childhood friends Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why), Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston have been creating music since starting 11-year-old in Los Angeles’ Join the Band program.

John Congleton (St. Vincent, Sharon Van Etten) produced their album and it has become a hugely successful release worldwide with many sold out shows worldwide.

Prior to each show, the band would post a list of donations for local charities in each city and encourage fans to bring these supplies with them into the venue – this way they were able to donate many supplies after every performance!

Uncomfortable

Comfortability may indicate an insecurity about becoming complacent or stagnant, an urge for growth and change or simply being too settled or at ease with yourself and life in general. Your discomfort could also be an indicator that new, challenging situations are being put before you, which are being gradually accommodated for over time. Over time, you will become more comfortable in uncomfortable situations by learning how to cope with discomfort rather than trying to avoid or push through it without experience. Wallows is a Los Angeles-based indie rock band featuring Minnette on vocals and Cole Preston and Braeden Lemasters playing drums and guitar, respectively.

Pulling Leaves Off Trees

Raked leaves become food for bacteria, fungi and insects which break down and return nutrients back into the soil. Furthermore, they create an organic mulch layer which insulates roots while increasing water and nutrient absorption – something crucial to trees and their surrounding ecosystems.

Remove too many leaves can interfere with how trees photosynthesize, weakening them and interfering with their life cycles; harvesting leaves just before they turn yellow can even harm it!

Leaves left on trees provide shelter for invertebrates, birds, mammals and amphibians as well as protection from damage by ice or snow as well as compartmentalizing around broken leaders (as shown here with this Sycamore tree) while conserving moisture in the soil.

Worlds Apart

Worlds Apart is the latest episodic VR adventure from developer Owlchemy and promises an action-packed mix of platforming, mystery and platforming action. Set in an alternate reality where false memories dominate collective consciousness, each new episode draws you deeper into a world that seems to be disintegrating before your very eyes.

Giorgios, an emotionally troubled husband and father who relies on antidepressant medication to cope with his marriage disintegrating and his corporate management job that sees colleagues leaving without being replaced, turns to Elise – an efficiency expert from Sweden hired to reduce payroll – for emotional support. They form an illicit relationship which ultimately proves pivotal.
