Daily Bread (Rhett Whatley), an Atlanta-based producer who began producing beats in 2014 with an MPC, extensive record collection, and background in jazz guitar, launched into beat making in 2014. Since releasing his initial tracks online Philos Records resident Daily Bread has begun touring around to entertain audiences with soul-stirring sound selections that stir their soul.
Since releasing his double LP opus On the Daily, Daily Bread has shared stages with some of his musical heroes like Pretty Lights, GRiZ, The Floozies and STS9. He’s also performed at Resonance, Hulaween and Sweetwater 420 festivals to packed crowds.
Vinyl has experienced a revival over the past several years and Atlanta producer Rhett Whatley (commonly referred to as Daily Bread) is taking full advantage of it. Combining sample canvases with intricate instrumental and synthesization techniques to produce electro-soul and hip-hop sounds that sound fresh yet original, Daily Bread stands out among his peers with this medium.
On his latest project, Navigator Standby, Whatley uses hip-hop samples and funky bass to craft an engaging listen that straddles both futuristic and retro aesthetics. Featuring two Atlanta rappers Obeah and STS Gold adding silky smooth flows over its butter-smooth production. He performed the full album at Cervantes last Thursday evening with a sold out show; fans of Pretty Lights or other sample heavy bass music will surely find plenty of enjoyment here – it is now streaming everywhere today.
Daily Bread, better known as Rhett Whatley, began producing beats in his bedroom with an MPC and extensive record collection in 2014. His beat head sensibilities and jazz guitar background led him to creating electro-soul and hip hop music that needed to be heard. Following the release of “On The Daily” on Philos Records he relocated to Denver and spent one year immersing himself into its electro-soul scene.

Daily Bread’s music is a combination of his life experiences, drawing from classical and gospel music as inspirations. He recently collaborated with rapper STS on Edgewood & Boulevard; their soulful sound showcases Atlanta and its beats produced there.
Kemp was raised as a rowdy PK (preacher’s kid) and an avid wakeboarder, yet never lost his passion for singing on mics. Once attending producer battles hosted by Dres the Beatnik he became hooked on production and became interested in production battles hosted by him.
