Daily Bread Music is the brainchild of record collector and producer Rhett Whatley. Born from his desire to collect vinyl records while creating hip hop beats, Daily Bread Music soon evolved into its current form.

Lovano’s lyrical style leads the charge here, while piano and drums add an air of ritualistic celebration. On ‘Rhythm Spirit,’ Lovano takes charge while his bandmates follow in order to produce an emotive soundscape that bridges modernity with tradition.

Rhett Whatley

Rhett Whatley, better known by his stage name Daily Bread, began making beats in his bedroom in 2014 using an MPC and an extensive record collection. Soon thereafter he found himself addicted to creating one-off electro-soul and hip hop tracks with unrivaled originality that demanded their listeners’ attention.

Atlanta-based producer Ben Latimer uses his love of crate digging and complex instrumental production to craft an aural narrative that is all his own. His blend of nostalgically soulful melodies, gritty hip hop hooks, and bass-driven flare gives listeners a feeling of deja Vu.

Trio Tapestry

Joe Lovano creates lush 12-tone improvisational soundscapes in his trio with pianist Marilyn Crispell and drummer Carmen Castaldi, creating fertile 12-tone soundscapes that draw from his reputation for leading loud organ groups as well as gigging with top-tier bands that required big soundscapes. But now Lovano has become one of the most introspective and sensitive saxophonists around; sometimes whispering or confessing through his tone.

Lovano leads his group’s musical efforts across two albums–Trio Tapestry and Garden of Expression–with music that features flowing lyricism, delicate texture and inspired interplay. Crispell plays at an advanced level within their structures while Castaldi responds sensitivity with orchestral drumming that adds flair to each step.

On “Mystic,” these three musicians evoke John Coltrane’s spiritual jazz through Lovano declaiming on his tarogato over rumbling percussion, while on “Grace Notes” and “Our Daily Bread”, Lovano’s yearning qualities emerge in subtle melodies which emerge from its overtones before dissipating into silence.

Trio Tapestry returns with their third album, ‘Our Daily Bread.’ Saxophonist Joe Lovano strips down his sound along with that of pianist Marilyn Crispell and drummer Carmen Castaldi to their essential components; Lovano’s lyrical style stands out, while his willingness to blend and share leads to deeper understanding among musicians in Trio Tapestry.
