Some may dislike this album for being slow and subdued, lacking in space rock elements found on previous releases. Yet some tracks still stand out – I particularly like Echoes!
Brit Floyd, named for the legendary British rock band, has long been recognized as the world’s premier Pink Floyd tribute show. Their shows offer an exquisitely-curated state-of-the-art production complete with light shows, large circle screens, inflatables and theatrics that faithfully recreates Pink Floyd’s presence while simultaneously cementing them as one of history’s most influential bands.
The early Sixties marked a time of profound social, artistic and sexual revolution. A group of talented teenagers from academic backgrounds – Roger Waters, Syd Barrett and David Gilmour (later becoming the songwriter for Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall) among them – found an outlet in rock music through this revolutionary period.
Their music conveyed a profound and mysterious feeling, drawing inspiration from science fiction, pastoral tradition and Victorian imagination. Furthermore, their innovative use of feedback and echo delay was revolutionary.
Pink Floyd made an immediate mark as one of the pioneering British psychedelic groups. Their innovative compositions, sound experiments, and philosophical lyrics quickly cemented them as one of the top progressive rock groups and one of history’s greatest rock bands.
Roger “Syd” Barrett and David Gilmour were Cambridge teenagers from academic backgrounds who formed a band together with experimental percussionist Nick Mason and keyboard player Rick Wright to explore new ideas through music as an outlet. Soon thereafter, their group became an integral part of London’s counterculture scene.
At the end of their decade together, Pink Floyd had created a musical landscape with Dark Side of the Moon and its accompanying live show. Meddle marked an important shift in creative direction when Waters took control over creative direction of the band and his themes of alienation and mental fragility were prominent throughout.
Immersive visuals and cutting-edge light effects take audiences on an incredible journey through time and space, while musicians take great care to ensure their music complements what the audience sees.
So they perform deep cuts like A Saucer Full of Secrets the way Pink Floyd did; complete with swirling images and lights reminiscent of its intended presentation. “That was always my intention,” according to Darlington.
The dedication and professionalism shown by this band has earned them worldwide acclaim and earned them the distinction as being the world’s greatest tribute to Pink Floyd. Selling out arenas and theatres throughout Europe, UK, Australia and America – including working alongside original touring members Guy Pratt and Durga McBroom – as well as appearing at David Gilmour’s 50th Birthday celebration, while making numerous new friends along the way!
If you love Pink Floyd music, a visit to this tribute band is essential. I have seen numerous cover bands over time but these guys stand out; they do everything with genuine respect for Pink Floyd. I have attended multiple times now without ever being disappointed!
This performance took place at a theater that could seat approximately 2,500 people and was completely sold out on this evening’s performance. The audience responded positively and enthusiastically throughout the whole show – which had studio quality production values.
The P-U-L-S-E tour is an exciting new production featuring iconic Pink Floyd double album Dark Side of the Moon as well as classics from The Wall, Wish You Were Here, Animals and Division Bell. There’s an extraordinary light show and visuals that immerse audiences into Pink Floyd universe.
