Keenan’s 60th birthday tour, Sessanta, includes his bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer joining forces with funk-metal legends Primus for an all-night musical extravaganza where musicians may switch bands throughout the night.

Over 10,000 fans filled Red Rocks Amphitheatre last Thursday and Friday night for TOOL, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifier Primus’ special Sessanta concert to honor Maynard James Keenan on his 60th birthday.
Maynard Gage may be best known as the frontman for Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifier; however he has many other projects on his agenda as well. These include winemaking, clothing design, creating health products like salves and balms for topical application as well as hosting his own podcast called This Week in Science as well as appearing regularly in an HBO Mr. Show segment wearing a pig mask.
He’s an animal enthusiast with multiple pets at home. Recently, one passed away, so he wanted to ease his family’s sorrow by adopting another puppy named Judith – already she’s become part of their lives and they have formed strong bonds playing together!
Puscifier closed out the first act with an electrifying performance of new versions of their songs, including extended renditions of “Indigo Children” and “Momma Sed.” They also performed several tracks from The Sessanta EP which is their joint release with A Perfect Circle.
Carina Round grew up surrounded by music in Wolverhampton, England and her career began with live performances at clubs in Birmingham. Her first two albums ‘First Blood Mystery’ and ‘The Disconnection’ released under her own label quickly drew comparisons to artists such as PJ Harvey.
After moving to Los Angeles to record Slow Motion Addict with Glen Ballard and being signed to Interscope Records, she continued releasing music under this moniker – defying musical genre tags from howling siren to confessional confessional and touring with many artists along the way.
As “The Contrarian” concluded, its screens seamlessly transitioned into showing the iconic Primus logo before sounding the first notes of “Man Overboard”.
Les Claypool has had an accomplished musical career since forming Primus in 1980. Since then he has ventured into various side projects such as Frog Brigade and Colonel Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade; also featured as part of jam band Bob Weir’s Ratdog alongside drummer Jay Lane, bassist Jeff Chimenti, and saxophonist Skerik.
Claypool formed his own band with Todd Huth and Eenor in 2000, and recorded two live albums – including an entire cover of Pink Floyd’s Animals album – before touring under this lineup and producing their DVD Hallucino-Genetics.
He’s one of the most gifted guitar players of his era, seamlessly mixing genres such as funk and metal into his own unique sound. Renowned for his complex rhythmic and melodic playing techniques. Since 1989 he’s been an integral member of Primus and A Perfect Circle; leaving behind a legacy through music with his inventive approach to sound production.
LaLonde has also played with other groups, including Possessed and Blind Illusion. Furthermore, he joined bassist Les Claypool to form an experimental band called Corrupted Morals.
Puscifier released their live album Existential Reckoning in 2020. This album showcases them performing their latest material live at Arcosanti, Arizona and has received critical acclaim from publications like Consequence of Sound and Revolver. Prior to this, in 2019 they released an EP called Sessanta which consisted of three songs co-written by Maynard James Keenan for each member.
